The removal or dissociation of the solvent component from the particle as a method of drying a sample or material in solution, e.g. the process of dissociating or releasing water molecules electrostatistically bound to a particle in aqueous solution.
Supplement
Desolvation is actually the initial major step in atomic absorption spectroscopy where a liquid sample is turned into an atomic gas. The other steps include vaporization and atomization.
