Round or oval cytoplasmic inclusion of neutrophils containing remnants of rough endoplasmic reticulum, especially from the proganulocyte stage of cell development.

Dohle bodies stain sky blue to grayish blue with Romanowsky stains and about 2 µm in diameter. They represent rapid turnover of cells and toxic granulation. They are commonly found in patients with infections, burns, trauma, pregnancy, or cancer.
Word origin: named after German pathologist, Karl Gottfried Paul Döhle.
