The face swelling up into a rounded or moon shape, with large jowls, due to increased fat deposition laterally seen among individuals with hyperadrenocorticalism.

It may be caused by endogenous factor such as in Cushing’s disease or by exogenous factor such as the use of cortisone-like drugs (steroids) for therapy.
