The part of the abdominopelvic cavity bounded by the bones of the pelvis, and which contains the internal reproductive organs, the urinary bladder, and the rectum.
Supplement
The pelvic cavity is located below the abdominal cavity although no physical barrier is separating it from the abdominal cavity. Together with the abdominal cavity they form a large cavity called abdominopelvic cavity, which contains the viscera.
Synonym: cavitas pelvis, cavum pelvis.
