A taxonomic group within Phylum Sarcomastigophora. It includes the amoebas, heliozoan, rediozoa and foraminifera, which are characterized by their ability to move by cytoplasmic flow or by pseudopods.
Supplement
Sarcodina, or commonly called sarcodines, include the rhizopods and actinopods.
Protozoans belonging to this group form pseudopodia during most of their life cycle. Flagella may be present but only during the early stages of their life cycle.
