It designed to both sphenoid and ethmoid regions of the cranium that surrounds the anterior portions of the brain.

Sphenethmoid bone of the frog skull is located in front of the parasphenoid bone. It also forms as three bones in mammals comprising the lesser wings of the anterior part of the base, orbitosphenoid and presphenoid, though some fusion might occurs but only parasphenoid are completely absent in mammals.
Sphenoid bone is located in neurocranium that is unpaired which set at the middle of the skull towards the front of temporal bone and basilar part of occipital bone that helps to connect the neurocranium to the facial skeleton. It is also one of the seven bones that coherent to form the orbit and shape like a butterfly.
Ethmoid bone separates the nasal cavity from the brain and situated at the roof of the nose between the two orbits, thus makes up the orbit of the eye.
There are various function integrates in sphenethmoid bone like it serves as a braincase that connects the olfactory nerves and entire optic parts of the fore and mid-brain. It is also important as medial support of the palate which makes it stable and firm. Lastly, it provides articulation of palatoquadrate and intracranial.
