Tricuspid valve

Definition
noun, plural: tricuspid valves
The heart valve located on the right side of the heart between the right atrium and the right ventricle
Supplement
The tricuspid valve is one of the heart valves of the human heart. Heart valves regulate the flow of blood through the flaps of tissues between the chambers of the heart. Apart from the tricuspid valve the other heart valves include the mitral valve and the semilunar valves. The mitral valve and tricuspid valve make up the atrioventricular valve. The tricuspid valve differs from the mitral valve in terms of anatomical position. The tricuspid valve is located on the right side of the heart, particularly between the right atrium and the right ventricle. Hence, it is also called the right atrioventricular valve. The mitral valve is located in the left side of the heart between the left atrium and the left ventricle. Both the mitral valve and tricuspid valve have flaps of tissues that prevent blood regurgitation. When the blood flows into the ventricle the flaps closes the valves to prevent the blood from flowing back into the atrium.
