Uritis is a rarely used nowadays to refer to the condition in which the skin is inflamed due to exposure to heat. Other terms used synonymously with it is dermatitis calorica. This condition belongs to the various types of dermatitis. The term dermatitis is the umbrella term for all conditions in which the skin becomes red, swollen, and sore. Dermatitis calorica or uritis is one of them. Other types of dermatitis include dermatitis traumatica, dermatitis venenata, dermatitis factitia, dermatitis medicamentosa, dermatitis gangrenosa, and so on.1
Dermatitis calorica is a skin inflammation due to exposure to a heat-related source. When skin inflammation is caused by exposure to excessive heat the condition is referred to as dermatitis ambustionis. In contrast, dermatitis congelationis is a form of dermatitis that is caused by exposure to excessive cold. 1
