Excessive dryness of the cornea and conjunctiva
Supplement
The dryness of the eyes is associated with the deficiency of vitamin A, trauma, autoimmune disorders, and localized disease. These factors result in the decrease in tear secretion, thus, leaving the eyes dry and lacking in eye surface lustre.
Word origin: Greek xeros (dry) + ophthalmos (eye)
